We're asking members of all chapters of the Chapter to electronically submit their favorite photos for a contest that will be judged at the annual conference in March 2002. Prizes will be awarded for each photo category. Click on the pictures below to see previous submissions for each category!
You must be a registered member of the Alberta Chapter with all dues paid in full at time of submission.
In order to be eligible for a prize, you must be registered for the conference and attend the Photo Contest (time and location will be announced in the agenda).
You must have full copyright of the photo.
By submitting a photo you give permission to the Alberta Chapter to use your photo in any of its publications (newsletters, letterhead, websites, pamphlets, posters, etc).
You must obtain consent from people to submit their photo.
The photo contest committee has the authority to disqualify photos of rude or sensitive nature.
Photos must me submitted according to the guidelines below prior to February 15, 2002.
Due to the potential number of submissions, hard copy submissions will not be accepted.
Photos must be less than 200kb and be in *.jpg or *.gif file formats.
Photos should be no larger than 4" x 6" and no larger than 200dpi.
Email photos to Troy.Sorensen@telus.net with the contest category in the subject line. The same photo can not be submitted into multiple categories. Please provide a title for your photo in the text of the email. For "Wildlife" photos please include a species name.
Please do not submit photos that have won in previous ACTWS Photo Contests.
Photos will be judged within the 2 weeks prior to the conference by 3 biologists/photographers. Judges will not know who submitted the photo at time of judging.
A submitter will only be eligible to win 1 prize for each photo category, however you can win a prize in more than 1 photo category.
Preference will be given to photos taken within Alberta, however photos from anywhere are encouraged.
Photos that won in previous ACTWS Photo Contests are not elligible to win again.
Photos will be judged based on clarity, lighting, color, composition, and natural setting. Please do not submit photos of zoo animals or road-side animals in the "Wildlife" or "Scenic" photo categories.
The contest would greatly benefit from any contributions towards prizes from members, chapters, organizations, or businesses. The conference organizers are open to any type of prize donation (camera supplies, frames, arts and crafts, field equipment, etc.). Financial donations to the contest will be used to buy prizes.
